3 in a row?

So, the Redlegs had their biggest winning streak of that past 1.5 months snapped tonight when they dropped the soap in the shower, standing in front of the Houston Astros. Oops. All seemed good until Bronson stepped onto the mound tonight. 3 innings of solid baseball, then 4-0 Astros (sound familiar?). Ok, we can come back, right? Right? Ok...

4-2. 7-2. 9-2. 10-2. So it goes...

You know what, Ill take win 3 games and then lose one. But what it comes down to is that we are not going to keep this up, I guarantee it. Josh Hamilton, Freel, and Bailey NEED to be on our team. The first two, we can't help, they got hurt, such is life. However, management needs to know what we need, and how can they not know that we need pitching. Heck, let him start in the bullpen so he's not faced with as much pressure. Yadda yadda yadda, you don't want him to "get hurt". But hes a big boy now, Im pretty sure he can take care of himself IF he has a string of losses. Im done, but before I go, chew on this:

Homer Bailey: 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 runs, 0 walks, 9 KS. He's 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA.

Memorial Day at GABP

Today is always a bittersweet day for me, baseball aside. It's a time where I honestly feel guilty for not being one of the thousands of Soldiers serving this country. Politics be damned, it's a great thing they do for us, and no one should ever forget that. With that being said, thank you, for everything.

I actually scored some sweet seats today at Great American courtesy to my Grandmother winning them in a raffle. So mom, dad, and I went down to GABP and sat in 133, row P (doubt that even matters to whomever is reading this), and we also got tickets to the Riverfront Club, which is very cool. Anyways, Ryan Freel seems to be the story of the day, and rightfully so. If you missed it, there was a long fly-ball hit to RC field, and him and Norris Hopper collided and, well, Freel didn't get up. For 13 minutes, (lucky number, eh?) But Ryan Freel is one heck of a player, and if you're out there Ryan, somehow making your way through the cyber-maze known as the internet and stumbling on this blog, I just want you to know you're one heck of a player, and I applaud you for that. Whether or not you know you are going to be thrown out at first, you hustle, which is more than I can say for a lot of the other players in MLB. Get well soon kiddo, we need you back. Now, onto the Reds...

The Reds are peculiar in my opinion. Some games, it looks as if Jerry Narron went down to a local ball field, saw some kids shagging fly balls, and suited them up. Other games, it looks as if these guys have been playing together for years (hmmm...) And what I cannot seem to grasp, is how infrequently the latter is the impression bestowed upon me. I know playing baseball at Sycamore High (Go Aves!), I learned how to play VERY well with my team mates, and very quickly at that. Now, multiply that times 5 for how many more games they play than we do, and you'd think the Reds players would be woven tighter than the cork in Sammy's bat. I just don't get it. I know Im not down there playing, but COME ON! Play as a team, please!

Good game today. 4-0 Reds, Lohse pitched well, only one fatality.

Is it possible to not even really care anymore? I usually turn on the game when it is in the 2nd or 3rd inning, and guess what? Its 4-0 almost always, and it just eats away at you, like a looming cold that you just can't get rid of. The Reds are sick, there is no other way to look at it. There is a proverbial virus going around that clubhouse, and it's spreading to the fans. I do know for certain that the Reds cannot afford to be boycotted by their fans, and I have no intention of doing that, but wow, I can barely take this anymore. It's a shame that Reds have no sense of "togetherness" it seems, and to me, that is unacceptable. A team needs to be just that, a team. Meaning they are not tons of individuals, they need to act as one. And last night, when Stanton short hopped that throw to Hatteburg, which was no longer than 30 ft, I just couldn't believe it. Unacceptable.

A good, and a bad

Alright. Ya know, we got one win in the past 3 games, Ill take it. Valentin coming out of nowhere, and doing his before-seen clutch hitting. Coming back from 6-0 to win 8-7, yea, Go Reds!!! Now, let's just see if we can keep it going for more than a day. Oh noes! Oh, and last night. It was 4-4 in the 8th inning, and what was the final score? 5-4? Heh, that'd mean we would could be respectful. Nope, it was 8-5. We gave up FOUR runs in one inning, and while I know this happens a lot, it shouldn't happen THIS MUCH to ONE team! Absolutely absurd...

I hope you see this, and I hope you are proud of your performance, or lack thereof from last night. Hey, look on the bright side, not many starting pitchers say they only lasted 1 and 1/3 innings. Good job on that. However, Im not going to push all the blame onto you. The fielding was AWFUL, those two errors in the second inning should not have happened, granted that only resulted in two more runs, which would have left you with *gasp* five. Still not good. Maybe you pick a different sport where you want a high score, like basketball, you might be better off playing that, since your ERA shouldn't be close to that high.

Not Reds related, but baseball...

Ok, Roger Clemens pisses me off. Sure, he is a great pitcher and all, and deserves a lot of money. But holy hell, 22 million for half a year, and here is the wammy, he just pitches at home games, and what really gets me is that he doesn't have to travel with the team. What makes him better than anyone else? Nothing. Maybe the fact that he is old is his only saving grace, but co'mon, that is absurd that he doesn't have to travel and he STILL gets paid millions. The day athletes play the game because they love it is when Ill get a lot more respect for them. Until then, enjoy your money.

The season from hell.

Well, basically the title says it all. What it all comes down to, is this season sucks for the Cincinnati Reds. Although I must admit, I do like some of the young prospects that we are beginning to see in the Reds organization, I just don't know how well they're going to A) Do in the major leagues and B) Fit in with the Reds. Homer Bailey has been showing good signs pitching with the Bats in Louisville, and quite frankly, I cant wait to see him up in the bigs. Our pitching SUCKS, (which is no shock to you, I'm sure). Anyways, I just don't know if they should bring him up now, or wait till the tail of the season so he can get some more practice in AAA. Oh well, I guess we won't know until we bring him up, (please God, let it be soon). And second, where did this Josh Hamilton guy come from? Ya know what? I don't care, he can hit for power, average, he can shag balls well, and he can run, so I vote "yay". Let's just not get stupid and trade him away once management realizes he's good, (ala Reese and Kearns last year). That's all for tonight folks! Enjoy the new site!
